Those who live extended product responsibility also think about the recycling of their products. Many projects, especially in Europe, are linked to all stakeholders in the value chain and are tackling this complex issue. In doing so, one quickly comes up against the limits of sorting in non-homogeneous product streams. The increasing complexity as well as unrealistic hardware requirements of existing sorting systems create major challenges for companies. Tailorlux has developed a solution that also makes your product detectable for commercially available sorting technology. The standard technology in this industry is the NIR camera, which can distinguish material classes.
Together with our partner Unisort/Steinert, Tailorlux teaches this camera to recognise your product and thus contribute to a pure raw material recycling. You have planned your own take-back? No problem, the proven inline technology recognises individual product markings in fractions of a second.

Polymers, such as PET, are often unfairly demonised materials associated with images of plastic waste in the world’s oceans and microplastics. Yet recyclable plastics can actually be a big part of the solution rather than the problem. Innovative packaging design combined with Tailorlux labelling, for example, can help distinguish and recover food-grade PET from other PET waste in the sorting process – in line with a desired circularity.
In a project for critical HDPE packaging in household waste, Tailorlux has already proven that the marking is detected by an NIR camera in a dynamic sorting process.
